Kanami has been guiding people out of their comfort zones and into wild new places for almost two decades. She was a whitewater rafting guide for 12 years, taking city folk out into the wilderness, and training them to navigate down challenging and remote rivers in Canada, Japan, Australia, Uganda, and Colombia.

She has also been a dedicated yogi since the age of eighteen, and eventually transitioned out of outdoor guiding and into the yoga world. She opened up her own yoga studio in the ski town of Niseko in northern Japan eight years ago which she operates every winter.

Her background in outdoor adventure guiding greatly influenced the styles of yoga she likes to teach, and she is always looking for new ways to push students out of their comfort zones on and off the yoga mat. Kanami encourages students to stay lighthearted and to have fun, and loves to create unusual combinations of yoga, activities, and subject matter. She is currently building a small cabana in southern Mexico with Andrew, and intends to soon connect her winters in Japan with summers of yoga and surfing in Mexico.

Born in San Diego, Andrew grew up playing in the ocean. His dad is a surfer, and has been surfing down in Mexico since the early 70s. His intense love for the ocean passed down easily to Andrew and his two brothers, and family road trips to Mexico started even before Andrew could walk. Much of his childhood was spent on trips with his dad exploring Baja and mainland Mexico for new surf spots.

Andrew was competitive with his surf team during high school, but later in his adult life he preferred traveling on his own in search of fun and challenging waves around the world. He has surfed in Indonesia, South Africa, Zambia, Morocco, Mozambique, Canada, and all over South and Central America. Lately he is most interested in big wave surfing, and fell in love with Puerto Escondido where he is currently building a house to eventually live in Mexico full-time.
